  • Identify the browser URL and API endpoint for your Organization

Summary

Braintrust-hosted organizations use https://www.braintrust.dev for browser access. The API endpoint depends on the organization’s data plane region: For self-hosted deployments, use the API endpoint configured for your organization’s data plane.

What is happening

How browser and API URLs work

The browser URL opens the Braintrust web app. The API URL identifies the data plane used to store and retrieve your AI data. Development, staging, and production organizations share the browser domain. Separate organizations have different organization paths within the app. An organization’s API endpoint depends on its region or self-hosted configuration, rather than whether you use it for development or production.

Find the correct endpoint

Braintrust-hosted organizations

  1. Open https://www.braintrust.dev and select your organization.
  2. Go to Settings > Data plane to view its region and API URL.
  3. Go to Settings > Data plane to view its region and API URL. See Data plane regions.

Self-hosted data planes

Configure your organization’s API, Gateway, and Realtime URLs under Settings > Data plane. Use the applicable data plane endpoint when explicitly configuring API clients. Self-hosting the data plane does not by itself change the browser URL. The standard web app remains at https://www.braintrust.dev. See Configure API URLs and Client routing for custom routing configurations.

How to confirm your configuration

  • Confirm that you selected the intended organization in the web app.
  • Check its region and API URL under Settings > Data plane.
  • Check its region and API URL under Settings > Data plane.

Notes

Dev and prod organization separation

For production and staging separation, Braintrust recommends separate projects. Separate organizations are an option when you need physical isolation across different deployments. See Separate production and staging. The browser URL alone does not identify your data plane region or API endpoint.
