# bt environments

> Manage Braintrust deployment environments from the CLI.

`bt environments` manages [deployment environments](https://docs.braintrust.dev/deploy/environments.md) in the active Braintrust organization. Use `--org` to select a different organization for a command. Running `bt environments` without a subcommand is equivalent to running `bt environments list`.

## Subcommands

| Subcommand | Description |

| `bt environments` | List environments in the active organization |
| `bt environments list` | List environments in the active organization |
| `bt environments view [slug]` | View an environment. Omit the slug to choose one interactively |
| `bt environments create [name]` | Create an environment. Omit the name to enter it interactively |
| `bt environments update [slug]` | Update an environment. Omit the slug to choose one interactively |
| `bt environments delete [slug]` | Delete an environment. Omit the slug to choose one interactively |

## Examples

bt environments view production
bt environments create Production --slug production
bt environments update production --description "Production deployment"
```

## Command-specific flags

| Command | Flag | Description |

| `bt environments view` | `--slug <SLUG>` | Environment slug (alternative to the positional argument) |
| `bt environments create` | `--name <NAME>` | Environment display name (alternative to the positional argument) |
| `bt environments create` | `--slug <SLUG>` | Unique slug within the organization. Defaults to a slug generated from the name |
| `bt environments create` | `--description <TEXT>` | Environment description |
| `bt environments update` | `--slug <SLUG>` | Environment slug (alternative to the positional argument) |
| `bt environments update` | `--name <NAME>` | New environment display name |
| `bt environments update` | `--new-slug <SLUG>` | New environment slug |
| `bt environments update` | `--description <TEXT>` | New environment description |
| `bt environments update` | `--clear-description` | Remove the environment description |
| `bt environments delete` | `--slug <SLUG>` | Environment slug (alternative to the positional argument) |
| `bt environments delete` | `--force`, `-f` | Skip the confirmation prompt. Requires an environment slug |

`bt environments` accepts shared [global flags](https://docs.braintrust.dev/reference/cli/overview.md#global-flags), including `--org` and `--profile`. Use `--json` for machine-readable output.
