# Edit Topics automation sampling rate after setup

## Summary

**Goal:** Adjust the sampling rate or idle timeout in topics settings.

**Features:** Topics automation settings dialog, sampling rate slider, idle timeout field.

## Configuration steps

### Step 1: Go to Topics settings

In your project, go to ** Settings** > [** Topics**](https://www.braintrust.dev/app/~/configuration/automations/topics).

### Step 2: Open the topics automation

Edit the **Topics** automation rule.

### Step 3: Adjust the sampling rate

Use the **Sampling rate** slider to set your desired rate. Optionally update the **Idle time** field.

### Step 4: Save your changes

Click **Save** to apply the changes.
